Neighborhood Description: |
Burr Oaks Neighborhood is the gateway into Madison. It is located to the west of South Park Street Corridor between West Beltline Highway and Wingra Creek. The neighborhood is divided between two jurisdictions: City of Madison and Town of Madison. However, there is an agreement which town lands will be annexed into the City by 2022.
Single-family ranch homes and multifamily complexes are dotted throughout the neighborhood. Lincoln Elementary School lies in the heart of the neighborhood. The first splash park, Cypress Spray Park, provides summer water fun for neighborhood children. The splash park has been a wonderful place to meet neighbors of all ages, races, and backgrounds.
The Villager Mall is a convenient hub for grocery shopping, healthcare, and childcare. The Goodman South Public Library has undergone substantial renovation and is a great resource for the community. In 2019 the Goodman South MATC opened, increasing access to educational opportunities for the neighborhood.
