City of Madison Celebrates National Community Development Week

The City of Madison is joining municipalities across the country in celebrating National Community Development Week (April 21-25, 2025), highlighting the impact that projects supported by the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs have had on the Madison area.

How Community Development Block Grant Funds Support Madison Homeowners

One of the first programs the City of Madison created after receiving its first CDBG funds in 1975, the Housing Rehabilitation Services Program was developed after City leaders recognized a pressing need to provide financial and technical assistance to low- and moderate-income property owners to repair deteriorating homes in Madison's older neighborhoods.

The City is sharing an interactive Housing Tracker to gauge community progress toward its housing goals and to compare it with recent construction.

Changes Coming to Local Rent Assistance Program

City and County government officials are alerting residents that changes are in store later this year for the Eviction Diversion and Defense Partnership (EDDP), the local initiative created at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to help lower-income renters who faced the threat of eviction.

Property Tax Assistance for Seniors (65+) is available.
