Final Draft Paln

Final Drafts of Volume I and Volume II of the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Plan were introduced by Adopting Resolution to the Madison Common Council on July 7, 2009. Eleven City Boards and Commissions, as listed in the adopting resolution, will review the Plan. Click here for the City of Madison Legislative Calendar.

The Draft Plan will no longer be discussed at tonight's Plan Commission Meeting. Check the City of Madison Legislative Calendar for an updated schedule. Public comment is welcome at all meetings. The Board and Commission meetings will be posted as they are scheduled.

The Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Plan is tentatively scheduled for adoption at the October 6, 2009, Common Council meeting.

The Department of Planning & Community & Economic Development is working with the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Steering Committee and interested residents, businesses and stakeholders to develop a 5-10 year plan for the Northside area. The Planning process began in January 2008 and is scheduled for completion in Fall 2009.

The planning area includes the well-established neighborhood areas of Berkely Oaks, Brentwood Village, East Bluff, Kennedy Heights, Lakeview Hill, Maple Wood, Mendota Hills, Sheridan Triangle, Sherman, Vera Court and Whitetail Ridge. The Northport -Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Planning Area is bounded by Wheeler Road & Harvey Road on the north, Packers Avenue on the east, Commercial Avenue on the south and Lake Mendota/Woodward Drive on the west.

2009 Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee

Steering Committee: A neighborhood-based steering committee appointed by the Mayor is leading this planning effort. The public is welcome to attend Steering Committee meetings (go to Meetings for a schedule, agendas and minutes). Steering Committee members and the areas that they represent include:

  • Lydia Maurer - Berkley Oaks & Whitetail Ridge & the Oak Park Terrace Mobile Home Community.
  • Pat Steele - East Bluff & Northport, Packers, & Woodlands apartments.
  • Benjamin Cashin/Lorie Walker - Lake View Hill & Kennedy Heights.
  • Cyndi Wood/Jacqueline Wilson - Mendota Hills, Nobel Park, Troy Gardens, & Vera Court.
  • Anita Herrera/Jolena K. Presti/Jeff Shokler - Brentwood Village, Maple Wood Condos, Sheridan Triangle, and Sherman.
  • Mary A. Schumacher/Paul Van Rooy - Lerdahl and North Lake Mendota
  • Karen M. Thompson/Donald B. Bruns/ Betty Thompson/Julie Savidusky - Representatives for the business community and multifamily property owners.
  • Thomas C. Blake – At Large representatives.
