Special
Locations for State Street Area
In order for you to get the correct permit for your
event, you will need to pay special attention the
exact location of your event and the governing
agency. The locations and governing agency that is responsible for that section of the
State Street area are listed below. 1.
Library
Mall -
Any event happening on the Library Mall, which is the
grassy areas around the fountain between Memorial Library
and the State Historical Society, must be coordinated
with the UW's University Central Reservations at (608)
262-2511. The Library Mall is only available for
UW sponsored groups or departments. Click

State Street & Podium
(NOT AVAILABLE AUGUST 1 -
NOVEMBER 1, 2008 DUE TO CONSTRUCTION)- The concrete/pedestrian mall area between Lake Street and Park Street,
including the podium. There are two ways to use this area:
1. Amplification Permit
This is the easiest and most popular way - but has strict time
constraints. This is primarily for music performers or rallies. Festivals
and other larger events must apply for the Street Use Permit. 2.
Street Use
Permit. (Minimum of 30 day advance) Questions

on the Square -
This performance area is on the top of State
Street/100 block of State Street. 1. Amplification Permit
This is the easiest and most popular way - but has strict time
constraints. This is primarily for music performers or rallies. Festivals

Peace
Park - Lisa
Link Peace Park is a City of Madison Park. Any
events or event components that take place in Peace
Park must complete a Madison
Parks Special Event Application. Questions may be directed
to (608) 266-6033.

Capitol
Square/Capitol Grounds - The area from
the Capitol Building, surrounding grounds, and the legislative parking lane are
all State of Wisconsin property. To have an event that is on or impacts any of
these areas, you will need to call Capitol Police at 266-7840 or 267-9343. Capitol
Square - To have an event on the other
side of the street from the Capitol Grounds, a Street Use Permit is
required. Events held on this side of the Capitol Square have several
special conditions that are listed in the Street
Use Permit Instructions Packet. Please read thoroughly. Questions may be directed
