Today, members of the Traffic Enforcement Safety Team (TEST) conducted a Pedestrian Safety Initiative in the 2400 block of Atwood avenue at Ohio Street. As a result of this initiative, TEST officers stopped 35 motorists for violation of State Statute 346.24(1) "Failure to Yield to Pedestrian". This violation carries with it a $240 fine and 4 demerit points for the driver upon conviction.
Motorists are advised to watch for pedestrians and properly yield as required by law. This is especially important in the near future when School goes back into session and pedestrian traffic increases.
