My name is Bryn Cory and I have been with the Madison Police Department since July of 2016. I am a police report typist and I cover the self report unit. As a police report typist I spend my day either editing reports officers have completed, or typing reports from dictation. I've always loved language and writing. As a result of extended stays in Honduras and Ecuador, I am fluent in Spanish.
The Madison police self report option enables you to file a police report without contacting an officer in the event of, for example, a theft from auto, neighbor trouble, a stolen bicycle or a lost wallet. While you can file this report online, many people prefer to file their reports over the phone. Lots of the people I talk to express a great deal of appreciation for my assistance and for the police department's work in general, which is my favorite part of covering self report.
In addition to working for the MPD, since 2000 I have been teaching self defense classes and workshops offered through the Dane County Rape Crisis Center. Before working for the Madison police, I worked at Community Pharmacy, a worker-managed cooperative, where I learned about herbal medicine, nutritional healing, and natural skin and hair care.
