I just read 2 separate reports in the west district of someone calling from a number that comes back to the Dane County Sheriff's Dept who is claiming to be a deputy. This person tells the homeowner that they are from civil process and they are wanted on a warrant. A request is then made for that person to pay a fee in cash (in the thousands of dollars) to take care of the warrant.
Please don't fall for this scam. When in doubt, call someone you trust or call the Madison Police Dept. directly to ask if you have questions.
