Prior to becoming the South District patrol operations lieutenant, she served as a patrol officer in the East and Central districts and was a neighborhood officer in Webb-Darbo on the city's East side before being promoted to Detective. She handled investigations in the South and East districts as well as the Burglary Crime Unit (BCU). Kelly also served as a Detective Sergeant of the BCU before coming to the South District.
