The Madison Police Department, in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office, will be providing extra patrols that specifically enforce alcohol and seatbelt laws throughout the month of March. These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Did You Know?: Drivers can be arrested for OWI even if their blood-alcohol content is below 0.08 if it's determined their level of impairment makes them unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
In Wisconsin, drivers can be stopped and cited for failing to wear a safety belt. Also, drivers can be cited for every unbuckled passenger in their vehicle.
