Extra Traffic Enforcement in April

The Madison Police Department, in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office, will be providing extra patrols that specifically enforce alcohol and seatbelt laws throughout the month of April. These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Did You Know?: Since the primary enforcement law took effect on June 30, 2009, Wisconsin's seat belt use rate has increased from 74 percent (in 2009) to over 89 percent (today). Last year in Wisconsin, there were 50,875 traffic convictions for failure to wear a safety belt.
