On Tuesday, September 15th officers from the Madison Police Department worked in collaboration with the 100 Black Men of Madison to conduct a community service food distribution. Officers met during the morning of September 15th, with members of the 100 Black Men of Madison, and organized a shopping event to purchase non-perishable food items from a local grocery store. The food was purchased by the 100 Black Men of Madison; and MPD officers shopped for the list of grocery items from the families.
The food items were delivered to the families in the community to assist them during this very trying time. This current pandemic has created a need within the community for economic and food assistance. Madison Police officers worked in collaboration with each other and the 100 Black Men of Madison to deliver the groceries to families.
As a result of the success of this outreach collaboration, the 100 Black Men of Madison have agreed to provide funding to sponsor up to four families each month. Madison Police will have the opportunity to shop for the four families and deliver the groceries on a monthly basis. A special thanks to Dr. Floyd Rose and the 100 Black Men of Madison for reaching out to sponsor this "Helping Those Who Help Others" community outreach program.
Respectfully,
Lt. Shannon Blackamore
