The Madison PD is currently conducting an enhanced traffic enforcement project on John Nolen Dr. Today's project will be focussing on speed and seatbelt enforcement.
According to the CDC, a total of 22,697 drivers and passengers in passenger vehicles died in motor vehicle crashes in 2018. More than half (range: 51%-60%) of teens (13-19 years) and adults aged 20-44 years who died in crashes in 2018 were not buckled up at the time of the crash.
Please slow down and buckle-up.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation
*** Update ***
From 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Officers monitored speed and seatbelt compliance on John Nolen Dr. A total of 46 stops were made in that time, and all were traveling at least 15 MPH over the posted speed limit (35 MPH). Our highest speed recorded was 64 MPH but that vehicle fled the stop.
Of all of the stops made, only 3 persons weren't wearing their seatbelt.
Thanks for buckling up!
