On Wednesday, April 7th, the Madison PD conducted an enhanced traffic enforcement project focused on speeding and seatbelt use.
From 7:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. officers conducted a total of 32 stops in the area of the 200 block of S Whitney way. All stops were for speeding at least 10 MPH over the posted 30 MPH limit. The highest recorded speed was for traveling 58 MPH in the 30 MPH zone. A total of 8 seatbelt violations were noted during the enforcement efforts.
Please buckle up - in 2017 an estimated 14,955 lives were saved by seatbelt use (source NHTSA).
Please slow down and buckle-up.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation
