Saturday evening officers from the Madison Police Department conducted an enhanced enforcement project on Stoughton Rd near Milwaukee St. Officers focused on speeding and other hazardous moving violations.
During the project officers conducted a total of 14 stops. The highest speed recorded was for traveling 75 in the 55 MPH zone. One vehicle fled from an officer's attempted stop. Drivers who flee from a traffic stop can face multiple charges including a felony charge and a citation carrying a $500 fine and 6 point violation. Owners of vehicles who's driver flee from a traffic stop can be cited with a $439 fine as well.

These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and conducted in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
