On Tuesday, 7/27/21, Officers from the Madison Police Department conducted an enhanced enforcement project on the W Beltline Hwy near Whitney way. During this project officers were focused on speeding and other hazardous moving violations.
From 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Officres conducted a total of 29 stops for speeding violations. Over half of the stops were for vehicles traveling at least 20 MPH over the posted speed limit (55 MPH) and the 2 highest speeds stopped were for 95 MPH and 93 MPH.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and conducted in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
