Yesterday, 8/16/2021, Officers from the Madison Police Department conducted an enhanced enforcement project on Stoughton Rd between Milwaukee St and Cottage Grove Rd. During this project officers were focusing on speeding and other hazardous driving behaviors.
From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM officers conducted a total of 26 stops for speeding, with one additional vehicle fleeing after their speed was measured at 95 MPH. All stops were for vehicles traveling at least 70 MPH in the 55 MPH zone. There were 10 stops made for vehicles traveling at least 20 MPH over the limit.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and conducted in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Areas selected for targeted enforcement are based off of traffic crash data and Vision Zero Madison's High Injury Zone.
