On Saturday, 2/12/2022, Officers from the Madison Police Department conducted an enhanced traffic enforcement project focusing on OWI, and other hazardous violations. The project was conducted from 8:00 PM until midnight in the area of John Nolen Dr and Rimrock Rd.
During this project officers conducted a total of 39 stops (36 for speeding, 2 for red signal violations, and 1 for unsafe lane deviation). The average speed stopped was 52 MPH (17 MPH over the speed limit) . The highest recorded speed for this project was 62 MPH (27 MPH over the speed limit). 1 driver fled prior to the a stop being made.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and conducted in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Areas selected for targeted enforcement are based off of traffic crash data and Vision Zero Madison's High Injury Zone.
