I just want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kelly Beckett and I am the new West District Captain. I come to you from the South District where I served for over 3 years as the Patrol Operations Lieutenant. Before that I was a Detective Sergeant with our Burglary Crime Unit. I am proud to have called the city of Madison home since 2001. I have been a member of the Madison Police Department since 2005.
Before that I was busy being a grad student at UW-Madison where I obtained an M.S. in Educational Psychology. I am also a proud alum of the University of Illinois and originally hail from the Champaign-Urbana area, where it is so flat that on a clear day you can see a very, very long way.
I am very excited to begin this journey with all of you and look forward to joining some of your neighborhood events, meeting with your alders and stakeholders, and learning as much as possible about what life is like in the West District. I want to work collectively with all of you to keep this part of Madison safe.
