Throughout the summer the Madison Police Department, in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office, continues to conducted enhanced enforcement efforts throughout the city focusing on hazardous traffic violations. In July alone MPD has conducted 9 projects thus far, and have another 12 scheduled. In August, 27 additional enhanced enforcement projects are already scheduled. These projects focus on OWI, speeding, as well as projects specifically targeting violations that impact pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
While MPD will continue to have an increased presence on E Washington Ave and the Beltline, these projects happen throughout the city and at all hours of the day.
Slow down, drive sober and help make sure everyone in Madison has a safe summer.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and conducted in partnership with the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Areas selected for targeted enforcement are based off of traffic crash data and Vision Zero Madison's High Injury Zone.
