Hello South Madison!
Your South Police District continues to be involved in effective community engagement. This Thursday August 3, 2023 as we prepare for National Night Out SPD will be working with two of our community partners to host events catered towards youth.
Event One:
Title: Science and Law Enforcement
Time: 12PM-4PM
Location: Penn Park
Host: Goodman South Library, in partnership with SPD
Overview:
This is an opportunity for youth and young adults to learn about science and how it can be used to problem solve incidents that occur throughout the city. Members of the City of Madison Police Department South Police District, Forensic Unit, and Mounted Team will be present to break down barriers and strength community relationships through education.
Event Two:
Title: Bike Safety Rodeo
Time: 5PM-8PM
Location: 1917 Lake Point Drive
Host: Bridge/Lake Point/Waunona Community Center (BLW), in partnership with SPD
Overview:
Over the years the BLW Community Center has developed an effective community partnership SPD. The Neighborhood Resource Officer Jessica Wolfe was able to work with "safe kids" to get 10 free helmets, to properly fit participants and run youth through a bike obstacle course! The kids participating will learn very important skills to be able to bike safely on the road! We also will be providing the participants and their family with a BBQ after the bike course!
