With the retirement of Central District Captain Mike Hanson, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Central District Captain.
I have been with MPD since 1998, and in 26 years have worked in several different districts and positions within the department. Before promoting into command, I served as a detective working primarily sensitive crimes and crimes against children. As a lieutenant, I worked primarily with detectives as a supervisor in various roles. Most recently, before being promoted to Captain, I was in charge of our Professional Standards and Internal Affairs unit. I grew up just outside of Madison in DeForest, and attended UW-Madison, so I have been a lifelong badger. My husband, Greg, retired from MPD in 2020, and we have one soon to be high school senior.
I am excited about working in the Central District and look forward to the opportunites and challeges that this thriving and vibrant district will bring! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Our Central Detective Bureau is now being supervised by Lieutenant John Messer, as Lieutenant Matt Nordquist has taken on another assignment. Lieutenant Messer has been with MPD since 2000, and has an extensive investigative background, including working in our Violent Crimes Unit. Most recently, before coming to the Central District, Lieutenant Messer was the Officer In Charge on the dayshift.
Lieutenant Dave Meinert is continuing his role as our Operations Lieutenant for the Central District. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the Central District has been invaluable in bringing Lieutenant Messer and me onboard.
