On Saturday August 2, from 9a.m. to 1p.m., MPD Amigo En Azul officers organized and held a "Car Safety Clinic" in the parking lot of JC Wright Middle School, 1717 Fish Hatchery Road. The purpose of this anual event is to enable MPD officers to inspect family car seats and insure they are properly installed in their vehicles. Families in attendance were also entered into a raffle to possibly receive new car seats thanks to our event sponsors (Safe Kids Madison Area, Inc. and American Family Insurance).
According to Nicole Vesely, Coordinator for Safe Kids Madison Area, last Saturdays event was a big success. According to her count:
• 19 families and vehicles attended (9 pre-scheduled appointments; 10 drop in's).
• 2 families were turned away as the event was winding down.
• 35 total car seats were inspected.
• 27 new cars seats were given away.
A special thanks to La Movida radio (WLMV 1480 AM) for their advertising of this event as many of the families served were from our Latino community. Below are some photos from the event.
