A citizen sent a letter to MPD applauding the efforts of Officer William Needelman and Officer Derek Huber. The citizen's wife suffers from dementia and walked away from their residence in the early hours one morning. She entered a hotel nearby and the staff called police to assist.
Although the citizen's wife had no ID on her at the time, Officers Needelman and Huber were able to figure out who she was and where she lived and were ultimately able to return her safely to her home. The citizen wanted to thank the officers for their "expertise, kindness, and help in bringing to conclusion what could have been a very bad situation into a joyous one." He also writes that though his wife has some short term memory problems, she was able to relate to him how "kind and caring the officers were."
Thank you, Officers Needelman and Huber, for your dedication and compassion exercised during what can be a very stressful situation. Also, thank you to the citizen for the kind words you sent as well. We appreciate them very much!
