Last Friday, MPD participated in a statewide traffic enforcement effort called "Booze & Belts" in an attempt to reduce impaired driving crashes and injuries to people who elect to not wear their seat belt. Booze & Belts focuses on high-visibility enforcement of all traffic violations, but specifically focuses on the lack of seat belt use and impaired driving. Last Friday's efforts occurred in the 3200 block of East Washington Ave and resulted in 12 citations/warnings being issued.
MPD will be deploying extra officers to continue these types of enforcement efforts throughout the city during the holiday season. Please have a happy and safe holiday. Do not drink and drive and please wear your safety belt!
