Over St Patrick's Day weekend, the Traffic Enforcement Safety Team provided additional patrol in an effort to identify impaired drivers, as well as to address speed violations and safety belt use issues. Historically, we do see an increase in impaired driving and alcohol-related crashes over this weekend.
Our additional enforcement efforts resulted in 45 citations being issued, mainly for speeding and lack of seat belt use. Only two were for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated. The good news is that there were no serious injury or fatality accidents over the holiday weekend! Great job City of Madison and keep driving safely!
