Kids and staff from the Vera Court Neighborhood Center along with some of our North District Officers had a chance to polish their skills on the ice the other day. Although it was probably way too cold to skate outdoors last Monday, the ice at Hartmeyer Arena was just right for Skate-With-a-Cop day. Nearly 25 kids got out on the ice with members of our Patrol staff and Community Policing Team. Everyone reported having a good time. The only bruises were to an officer's ego when he took a tumble along the boards.
Skate-With-a-Cop is just one of many initiatives that support our department's deep commitment to building positive relationships with all members of our community. Look for more opportunities to engage with our district officers throughout 2016 and beyond.
