The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 11/19/2019 through 6:00 a.m. on 11/20/2019, MPD received 400 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (73), East (94), Midtown (56), North (64), South (34), West (55), and Other (24). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Check Person – 7:50 a.m. Officers received information of a subject (17-year-old male) who may be in possession of a firearm. Attempts were made to contact the subject at his residence but he was not home. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Information – 11:42 a.m. Officers met with a juvenile who reported inappropriate contact with a 37-year-old male. The male subject was contacted by officers. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Assist Law Enforcement – 12:50 p.m. Officers responded to the Beltline by the South Towne Drive exit to assist Monona PD with a fatality rollover crash. Monona PD has the lead on this investigation.
NORTH: Strong Armed Robbery – 3:40 p.m. Officers spoke with a subject (82-year-old male) who reported that he was meeting a woman for paid adult services when another male subject robbed him. Neither the suspect nor the woman were located. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Strong Armed Robbery – 4:10 p.m. Officers met with a victim (juvenile male) who reported that two suspects physically assaulted him and attempted to rob him. The suspects (16-year-old males) were located, arrested and conveyed to the Juvenile Reception Center on charges of robbery with use of force, strangulation and disorderly conduct. MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 4:42 p.m. Officers responded to a male and female (both 27-years-old) couple arguing about the male being late for dropping off their child. The female then kicks and damages the male's vehicle. The female was arrested for domestic criminal damage to property.
EAST: Disturbance – 4:51 p.m. Officers responded to the U-Haul for a male subject (33-year-old) who showed up at their business drinking, then caused a disturbance and refused to leave when asked. The suspect was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and had additional charges from an incident he was involved in earlier in the day.
NORTH: Weapons Offense – 7:49 p.m. Officers responded to Arby's reference at least four people fighting with weapons (pipes and handguns.) Three suspects (36-year-old, 34-year-old and 31-year-old) fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim reported that two of the suspects were likely headed to De Forest. De Forest Police Department stopped two of the suspects and they were arrested for Disorderly Conduct While Armed. One suspect is still at large. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Armed Robbery – 7:53 p.m. Officers were called by a male victim who admitted that he was meeting someone to buy drugs when he was severely battered and the suspects stole his car. The victim was unable to identify the suspects. His vehicle was later located in the city of Madison unoccupied. The victim was taken to a local hospital and may need surgery. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Runaway Juvenile – 10:30 p.m. Officers spoke with a mother who reported that her male child (13-year-old) was missing and has not been in contact with him all day. Mother reported that this behavior is not unusual for her son. Officers were unable to locate him and he was listed as missing.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 11:07 p.m. Officers responded to a female victim who reported that she was battered by her boyfriend (27-year-old.) The male suspect was arrested for Domestic Disorderly Conduct, Battery and Intimidation of a victim.
MIDTOWN: Armed Robbery – 11:56 p.m. Officers responded to the Speedway Gas Station reference an Armed Robbery. The victim/store employee stated that as they were counting the cash register money for the night, three male suspects entered the business with ski masks and handguns and demanded money. The suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. Investigation Continuing.
