The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 11/26/2019 through 6:00 a.m. on 11/27/2019, MPD received 417 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (67), East (84), Midtown (67), North (59), South (47), West (55), and Other (38). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
MIDTOWN: Stalking Complaint – 6:00 a.m. Officers investigated a stalking complaint which occurred on November 25th. Officers attempted to locate the suspect (19-year-old male) but fled from officers. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Check Person – 7:52 a.m. Officers responded to a group home regarding a subject/resident (female) standing in traffic. The subject was voluntarily conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject was left in the care of medical staff. No further action deemed necessary by officers at this time.
CENTRAL: Battery – 8:29 a.m. Officers responded to the 600 block of E. Washington Ave for a battery complaint. Officers met with the complainant who reported being assaulted by another subject, who was not on scene. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Battery – 12:52 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital regarding a victim (female) who was seeking treatment after she reported being physically assaulted. A suspect (38-year-old male) was arrested.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 2:56 p.m. Officers responded to a residence to speak with a victim (female) who stated that she and her husband are separating and he came to the residence to take some personal belongings. The victim stated that the suspect kicked in the door and battered her and left. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 4:29 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a victim (female) who was traveling on Gilson Street when she stopped because she thought she had run over something. When the victim exited her vehicle to investigate what she might have struck, two suspects (male) stole her car. A witness observed the entire incident. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Conveyance – 10:00 p.m. Officers responded to the Juvenile Reception Center reference a suicidal subject (male.) Officers consulted with Mental Health services and the subject was taken to a local hospital.
CITY-WIDE: Assist Wisconsin State Patrol - 11:15 p.m. WSP reported that they were investigating a crash at I-39 and High Crossing Blvd. in which the involved parties fled the scene. Because of the high likelihood of injuries, MPD was asked to check the local hospitals and ultimately located the involved parties. WSP has the lead on this investigation.
SOUTH: Intoxicated Driver – 2:20 a.m. Officers responded to an intoxicated driver who drove off of an elevated parking lot and was stuck because of a broken tire. The suspect (41-year-old male) was still trying to drive the vehicle when officers contacted him. The suspect was arrested for OMVWI and had a warrant.
