The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 02/25/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 02/26/2020, MPD received 413 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (68), East (74), Midtown (79), North (59), South (38), West (56), and Other (39). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

EAST: Death Investigation – 8:43 a.m. Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a subject (30-year-old male). Entry was made and the subject was located deceased. Nothing suspicious observed/identified. Medical Examiner's office responded. Autopsy pending. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 12:02 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (68-year-old male). Initial cause of death is medical-related. Nothing suspicious observed/identified. Medical Examiner's office responded. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Information/Sexual Assault – 9:45 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in the east district. The victim reported not knowing who the suspect is. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Arrest Person – 12:59 p.m. Officers responded to a north district school reference a report of a victim stating that the suspect who had sexually assaulted her was at the school. The suspect (59-year old male) was arrested at his home for a probation hold and taken to the Dane County Jail. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Battery – 1:40 p.m. Officers responded to a south district residence reference a report of a battery. The victim reported that she was breaking up with her boyfriend (22-year old male) when he became physically violent with her. The suspect left the area but police were able to establish probable cause for battery and disorderly conduct. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Check Person – 3:11 p.m. Officers responded to a north district residence reference a suicidal subject. The subject's employer contacted police because the subject was informed that they were fired and the subject became despondent and stated that they were going to commit suicide. Officers contacted the subject who was under the influence of alcohol. The subject was conveyed to Tellurian Detox until they could be seen by a mental health professional.
NORTH: Arrested Person – 9:45 p.m. Officers responded to a north district convenience store reference a subject who had a parole hold. Officers contacted the subject who resisted arrest. The suspect (35-year old male) was arrested for a parole violation and resisting arrest and conveyed to the Dane County Jail.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 9:59 p.m. Officers responded to a central district homeless shelter reference a disturbance. The suspect (22-year old male) was yelling at other visitors at the shelter. Officers instructed the suspect that he had to leave but he refused. As officers were placing the suspect into custody, he attempted to spit and bite officers. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, trespassing, resisting and bail jumping and conveyed to the Dane County Jail.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:13 p.m. Officers responded to a north district residence reference a domestic disturbance. The victim reported the incident to officers and as they were taking the suspect (29-year old female) into custody, she resisted and attempted to bite officers. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, bail jumping and resisting arrest and conveyed to the Dane County Jail.
CENTRAL: Battery – 11:35 p.m. Officers responded to a battery complaint from a private ride service driver. The victim reported that the suspect (unknown male) was dropped off at the determined destination. The victim drove away but the suspect realized they had left their phone in the car. The suspect caught up with the driver and struck the drivers vehicle and yelled at the driver. The victim got out of the vehicle and confronted the suspect about the suspect's behavior. The suspect shoved the victim to the ground, causing the victim to strike their head on the concreate and lose consciousness. A passer-by called 911. The victim was transported to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 12:30 a.m. Officers responded to an east district residence for a report of a gunshot victim. A juvenile victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Investigation continuing.
