The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 06/23/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 06/24/2020, MPD received 400 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (83), East (90), Midtown (60), North (63), South (39), West (47), and Other (18). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Non-Residential Burglary – 7:02 a.m. Officers responded to a construction site that was burglarized overnight. A padlock was cut to a gate to enter the site. Tools were stolen. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 8:31 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a suspect (48-year-old male) armed with a gun. The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived. The suspect was observed driving and a traffic stop was conducted. A handgun was recovered. The suspect was arrested/charged with disorderly conduct while armed, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping.
SOUTH: Theft – 8:52 a.m. Officers received a report of a stolen firearm from a residence. The firearm was entered as stolen in the appropriate databases. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Weapons Offense – 11:46 a.m. Officers responded to W. Mifflin St. reference a subject/suspect (28-year-old male) causing a disturbance outside Coopers Tavern. The suspect entered the outdoor seating area of the restaurant and used a bullhorn to make loud statements where diners were seated/eating. The suspect was also holding a bat. The suspect was contacted and he resisted arrest. The suspect was arrested/charged tentatively with disorderly conduct while armed, resisting and attempted escape (the suspect broke free from the back of a squad car after being taken into custody). Two officers sustained minor injuries while taking the suspect into custody. Incident Report on MPD's website completed (with videos). EAST – Weapons Offense – 1:16 p.m. Officers responded to the 5900 block of Jackson Quarry Lane for multiple reports of shots fired. No reported injuries at this time. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 3:12 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance between two subjects (female victim and 50-year-old male suspect). The suspect caused damage to the home, threatened to harm himself and left the residence on foot. The suspect was contacted and probable cause was developed to arrest/charge him with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic criminal damage to property.
EAST: Disturbance – 5:33 p.m. Officers responded to Tree Lane for a report of a subject pulling a gun on another subject. Officers made contact with two subjects possibly involved. Probable cause not developed at this time. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 7:49 p.m. A male victim, who was in a vehicle, was struck by gunfire near Milwaukee St/S. Stoughton Rd. Officers were notified of this incident when the victim showed up at a fire/EMS station. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 11:30 p.m. Officers responded to shots fired on Milwaukee Street. Officers recovered several rounds that were fired through a residence. No report of injuries. Investigation continuing.
