The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 09/01/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/02/2020, MPD received 356 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (60), East (75), Midtown (57), North (63), South (33), West (55), and Other (13). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
09/01
MIDTOWN: Stolen Bicycle – 6:28 a.m. A witness reported observing a suspect (56-year-old male) take his neighbor's bicycle from the front yard. The suspect was contacted and arrested. The bicycle was returned to its owner.
EAST: Residential Burglary – 8:08 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where a suspect(s) broke into an attached garage. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 8:15 a.m. An unlocked vehicle was stolen from a residential driveway. The keys were in the vehicle. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 8:58 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
SOUTH: Crash – 9:24 a.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle rollover crash at John Nolen Drive/Rimrock Rd. A traffic signal was knocked over. No injuries sustained.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 2:28 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 57-year-old male suspect. The suspect pushed his father who subsequently fell backwards on his wife who fell down several stairs. The female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was taken into protective custody under an emergency detention order. The suspect faces criminal charges of domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts).
EAST: Disorderly Conduct – 3:12 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance between two subjects (male victim and 59-year-old male suspect). The suspect was cited for disorderly conduct.
EAST: Death Investigation – 6:29 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (57-year-old male). Nothing suspicious observed. Medical Examiner's office responded. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Adult Arrested Person – 6:44 p.m. A person of interest in several crimes was observed and contacted on Watts Rd. The suspect (26-year-old male) was subsequently arrested for robbery (two counts) and operating a motor vehicle without consent.
NORTH: Crash – 10:27 p.m. Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash on Northport Drive. Several subjects were conveyed to a local hospital for evaluations/treatment (no serious injuries reported). The driver/suspect (35-year-old male) of the vehicle that fled was identified. The suspect remains at-large. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 12:17 a.m. Officers responded to the 1600 block of N. Thompson Drive for sounds of a disturbance. Officers arrived and attempted contact at the residence but there was no answer. Entry was made to check the welfare of any occupants. The residence was cleared and found empty. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Sexual Assault – 12:39 a.m. A caller reported being sexually assaulted. Officers were unable to locate/connect with the caller. Officers made contact with a friend of the caller who was not cooperative. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Weapons Offense – 2:38 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a male and female screaming. While on scene officers heard 3-4 gunshots. Numerous callers contacted dispatch to report the shots fired but no scene was ever identified. A male and female were observed, contacted and confirmed to be the two heard yelling. Protective pat down of the two subjects yielded no weapons. Investigation continuing.
