The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 10/19/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/20/2020, MPD received 307 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (50), East (79), Midtown (44), North (55), South (24), West (40), and Other (15). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 6:02 a.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a delusion subject/suspect (25-year-old male). The suspect was conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation. The suspect was medically cleared and arrested/charged with disorderly conduct and felony bail jumping. The suspect was transported to jail.
CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 9:57 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where entry was made by a suspect(s) through an unsecured window. An electronic device was stolen.
NORTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 12:05 p.m. MPD and Child Protective Services plugged into a sexual assault of a child report. Safety planning for the victim determined. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Death Investigation – 12:56 p.m. Officers responded to a pulseless non-breathing subject (89-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted until a DNR bracelet was discovered. Nothing suspicious observed. Medical Examiner's office responded.
EAST: Fire Investigation – 1:47 p.m. Officers responded, along with MFD, to a fire at a recycling business. MPD assisted with traffic control. No injuries reported. MFD has the lead on this investigation.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:16 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects (female victim and 19-year-old female suspect). The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic disorderly conduct while armed. A second suspect (28-year-old male) was arrested as he was not allowed on the property per court order.
EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 6:00 p.m. A wanted suspect (37-year-old female) was arrested for retail theft. The suspect was also charged with possession of illegal substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
NORTH: Armed Robbery – 6:57 p.m. An employee at a convenience store reported that a suspect entered the store with a gun and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot with cash.
MIDTOWN: Check Property – 7:11 p.m. Officers responded to a convenience store on Verona Rd where a subject reported a male entered the store with a gun. No other witnesses. Video evidence did not substantiate the allegations.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 7:31 p.m. A road rage incident was reported with a suspect pointing a gun at a driver/victim. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Check Property – 8:19 p.m. Officers responded to Moorland Rd for a report of shots fired. Area checked. No evidence of shots fired located.
MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 8:45 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a subject in need of emergency medical care. Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. The subject (92-year-old female) was pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious observed. Medical Examiner's office responded.
MIDTOWN: Drug Incident – 11:31 p.m. Officers responded to a pulseless non-breathing subject at a convenience store on Verona Rd. MFD administered Naloxone to the subject/suspect (35-year-old male) which revived him. The suspect was conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation/treatment. A search of the suspect's vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia. The suspect admitted to ingesting crushed oxy pills laced with fentanyl. A young child was with the suspect and turned over to a responsible family member. The suspect was charged with possession of illegal substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

EAST: Non-Residential Burglary – 2:20 a.m. Officers responded to an alarm at a convenience store on Lien Rd. Forced entry/damage was located. Investigation continuing.
