The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 12/08/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 12/09/2020, MPD received 367 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (54), East (92), Midtown (55), North (53), South (43), West (44), and Other (26). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

SOUTH: Road Rage – 8:47 a.m. A caller advised dispatch that a vehicle/driver was chasing and filming them as they were driving on W. Olin/Gilson St. The caller then advised that dispatch could disregard and hung up.
CENTRAL: Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 8:48 a.m. A stolen vehicle was recovered unoccupied.
MIDTOWN: Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10:12 a.m. A stolen vehicle was recovered unoccupied. Registered owner notified and responded to take possession of the vehicle.
NORTH: Check Person – 10:43 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. Contact was made with the subject and concerns were raised for her ability to care for herself/her mental health. Journey Mental Health plugged in. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and an emergency detention was sought. Family of the subject located/contacted. The subject was admitted to the local hospital for the time being. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:09 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (83-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
NORTH: Armed Robbery – 12:33 p.m. Officers met with a victim who reported that a female suspect armed with a hammer attempted to rob her. The suspect did not obtain any of the victim's possessions. The victim pepper sprayed the suspect. The suspect fled. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 1:39 p.m. A vehicle crashed on Agriculture/Femrite Dr and the four male occupants fled on foot. The vehicle caught on fire. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen. Two occupants/suspects (14-year-old male and 13-year-old male) were apprehended, arrested, charged with operating a motor vehicle without consent party to a crime and released to their parents. The two other occupants/suspects remain at-large. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 2:43 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from victim as he was outside his vehicle throwing something away. The male suspect indicated to the victim that he may be armed with a weapon. The suspect/vehicle fled. Wisconsin State Patrol located the vehicle unoccupied in the Wisconsin Dells. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Check Property – 3:06 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a female subject jumping in front of vehicles driving. Officers arrived in the area and the suspect (40-year-old female) fled on foot. The suspect was apprehended and arrested on outstanding charges and new charges.
SOUTH: Weapons Offense – 7:19 p.m. Officers responded to a report of shots fired. Area canvassed. No evidence of shots fired located.
SOUTH: Check Person – 7:47 p.m. Officers made contact with a suicidal subject at a local hospital. Emergency detention sought. Final outcome pending.
WEST: Death Investigation – 9:45 p.m. Officers responded, along with EMS/Fire, to a pulseless non-breathing subject (43-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. Drug use evidence on scene observed. Medical Examiner's office responded. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 12:27 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects (female victim and 21-year-old male suspect). Probable cause was developed to arrest the suspect. The suspect resisted arrest, head-butted an officer and spit at an officer. The suspect was charged with domestic disorderly conduct, battery, criminal damage to property, resisting, dispensing bodily fluids, threats toward law enforcement (2 counts), misdemeanor bail jumping (4 counts) and felony bail jumping (2 counts).
