The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 03/23/2021 through 6:00 a.m. on 03/24/2021, MPD received 363 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (62), East (79), Midtown (53), North (71), South (32), West (44), and Other (22). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 11:36 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Stolen Vehicle – 11:41 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from a driveway overnight. The vehicle was left unlocked and had the keys inside of it. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
NORTH: Found Property – 2:56 p.m. Officers responded to Melody Lane for several bullets/casings located. Officers located/recovered numerous rounds (not spent casings).
WEST: Child Abuse – 3:40 p.m. Officers met with a mother and her child who reported child abuse by a known suspect. Contact made with the suspect. No charges substantiated at this time. Child Protective Services notified.
SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 4:07 p.m. Officers responded to a threats complaint. Probable cause was developed for the suspect (50-year-old male). The suspect was contacted and arrested/charged with disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
WEST: Crash – 4:21 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle vs. building crash on Raymond Rd. The driver was attempting to park the vehicle when her foot hit the gas instead of the brake. The vehicle went onto the sidewalk and struck a brick pillar. Minor injuries sustained.
MIDTOWN: Check Property – 5:08 p.m. Officers responded to Jefferson St for multiple reports of shots fired. Areas checked. No evidence of shots fired located. No reported injuries or property damage at this time.
CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 6:46 p.m. Officers responded to what was initially reported as an unwanted subject. Investigation revealed a disturbance and a sexual assault occurred involving a 29-year-old male suspect. The suspect was not on scene. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the suspect once he is located.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 7:51 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old female suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic battery, disorderly conduct and bail jumping (4 counts).
EAST: Child Abuse – 10:22 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence involving a 42-year-old male suspect and his child. The suspect was arrested/charged with strangulation, physical abuse to a child and disorderly conduct. Child Protective Services notified.
