The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 06/16/2021 through 6:00 a.m. on 06/17/2021, MPD received 587 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (76), East (124), Midtown (73), North (85), South (56), West (84), and Other (89). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 8:20 a.m. Officers responded to a business on University Ave for a subject/suspect (46-year-old male) causing a disturbance. The suspect was contacted and arrested. The suspect resisted officers. The suspect was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting, misdemeanor bail jumping and felony bail jumping.
SOUTH: Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 2:12 p.m. A stolen vehicle was located/recovered in a parking lot. Dealership where the vehicle was stolen from notified. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Assist EMS/Fire – 3:22 p.m. Officers responded, along with MFD, to a structure fire. Fire under control and officers able to disengage.
EAST: Drug Incident – 4:00 p.m. Officers responded to a report of two subjects/suspects actively using drugs in a parking lot. A 41-year-old male suspect was arrested/charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, bail jumping (2 counts) and trespassing. A 28-year-old female suspect was conveyed to a local hospital where she was given an order in for possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.
CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 4:16 p.m. Officers met with a victim who reported a backpack with two laptops and cash was missing from his home. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 4:53 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital regarding a subject in need of an emergency detention. Journey Mental Health consulted. Final outcome pending.
MIDTOWN: Crash – 5:16 p.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on S. Gammon Rd/Mineral Point Rd. A 29-year-old female driver was cited for the incident. Two subjects in the victim vehicle were conveyed to a local hospital with injuries.
CENTRAL: Crash – 5:35 p.m. Officers responded to a vehicle vs. bicyclist crash on N. Baldwin/E. Washington Ave. The bicyclist diverted off the sidewalk and a driver/vehicle struck him. No impairment concerns for the driver. The bicyclist was conveyed to a local hospital as a precaution. The bicyclist was cited. No further action deemed necessary by officers.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 6:00 p.m. Officers received a report of a subject/suspect (23-year-old male) harassing an employee at a restaurant. The suspect was arrested/charged with disorderly conduct. Additional charges may be forthcoming. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Road Rage – 7:32 p.m. Officers met with a victim who reported a road rage incident involving another vehicle/driver. The victim and suspect stopped in a parking lot where the suspect approached the victim. The suspect/vehicle fled before officers arrived. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Check Area – 9:26 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject pointing a gun laser at another subject. Contact made with the victim who identified one of the suspects involved. A gun was not found to have been observed. Charges not substantiated at this time. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Suspicious Person – 9:39 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. The subject was located and identified. Journey Mental Health consulted. The subject was taken into protective custody on a Chapter 51 return.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 11:19 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male suspect. The victim had visible injuries. The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic battery.

EAST: Check Person – 12:49 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where a mother of a juvenile reported that their child came home drunk where an adult forced her to drink. Multiple other juveniles reported to have been present. Consumption of alcohol and marijuana reported to have occurred. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Suspicious Person – 1:01 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person/suspect (29-year-old male). The suspect was arrested/charged with obstructing, possession of meth and a probation hold.
