The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to (Friday morning to Monday morning) is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 08/20/2021 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/23/2021, MPD received 1,315 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (288),East (239), Midtown (158), North (204), South (133), West (186), and Other (107). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 8:17 a.m. The victim reported someone stole the catalytic converter from his vehicle while it was parked in an underground garage at his residence.
CENTRAL: Recovered Stolen Auto/Plates – 9:07 a.m. A parking enforcement officer located a vehicle that was reported stolen with stolen plates that did not match the vehicle.
NORTH: Weapons Offense – 12:37 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a report of a suspect (33-year-old male) with a shotgun. Initial investigation suggested the suspect brought the firearm to a friend's house simply to show it to him. The suspect had not been contacted at the time of this writing.
NORTH: Armed Robbery – 2:02 p.m. The victim reported a known suspect broke into his home and demanded money. The victim reported that the suspect held him at knifepoint and drove him to an ATM to withdraw the money from the victim's account. Officers were unable to corroborate the victim's story. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Check Person – 3:04 p.m. A family member asked that police check the welfare of a subject (63-year-old female). Police discovered the subject breathing but not responsive. MFD paramedics transported the subject to the hospital.
MIDTOWN: Weapons Offense – 4:47 p.m. Officers made contact with a victim who sustained two stab wounds to the neck. The wounds were not life-threatening. The victim was uncooperative with officers and did not provide a statement.
WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 8:47 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital to assist with the transport of a juvenile subject to WMHI. The transport was completed without incident.
EAST: Disturbance – 10:10 p.m. Officers responded to Rev Jim's Roadhouse on Millpond Rd where an intoxicated suspect (23-year-old female) was throwing things and jumping on cars. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
CENTRAL: Drug Investigation – 11:22 p.m. Officers checking the Buckeye Lot on W Gilman St located a vehicle with a handgun in plain view. After a K9 gave a positive alert for the odor of illegal drugs, officers searched the vehicle and found drugs. Officers developed probable cause to charge the registered owner/suspect (31-year-old male) with felon in possession of firearm and possession with intent to deliver THC.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 12:08 a.m. The suspect (47-year-old male) confronted the victims at a gas station and began hurling insults at them. An employee at the gas station exited the store and told the suspect to leave, at which point the suspect got into his car and accelerated towards the employee, nearly striking her with the car. Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect for a violating a restraining order and 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety. Suspect is at large.
EAST: Disturbance – 12:27 a.m. The victim reported that the suspect (30-year-old male) struck him several times in the head and abdomen with a hammer when the victim tried to stop the suspect from punching someone. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety. Suspect is at large.
CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 1:14 a.m. The victim reported that while she was sleeping in her residence, the suspect (31-year-old male) entered her bedroom and made inappropriate sexual contact with her. Officers arrested the suspect and charged him with burglary, attempted 2nd degree sexual assault, resisting, battery to law enforcement, escape criminal arrest and disorderly conduct.
NORTH: Disturbance – 5:58 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (31-year-old male) was shouting and calling the victim names and refused to leave. When the suspect finally did leave, he struck the victim's car with his car before fleeing the scene. Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with disorderly conduct and hit and run. Suspect is at large.
CITY-WIDE: Information – 8:19 a.m. Officers responded to the area of Milwaukee St and Rosemary Ave and along the E Washington Ave corridor for a power outage. MG&E responded. Officers assisted with traffic control.
MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 12:03 p.m. Officers conveyed a subject (33-year-old female) to a local hospital for an evaluation. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health. The subject was admitted and left in the care of medical staff.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 1:54 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 61-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with aggravated felony domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.
CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 4:10 p.m. Officers met with a victim who reported being sexually assaulted by a known suspect. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Death Investigation – 7:40 p.m. Officers responded to a pulseless non-breathing subject (61-year-old female). Lifesaving measures attempted but not successful. Medical Examiner's office responded. The decedent has a history of medical/health concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
CENTRAL: Disorderly Conduct – 10:33 p.m. Officers flagged down on State St reference a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.

EAST: Recovered/Stolen Vehicle – 12:39 a.m. An unoccupied stolen vehicle (from Middleton) was located/recovered on Pinewood Court.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 12:51 a.m. A wanted suspect (32-year-old male) was observed on State St. The suspect fled on foot. The suspect was apprehended. A loaded firearm was recovered. The suspect was arrested/charged on outstanding warrants, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of firearm by a felon, resisting and felony bail jumping.
EAST: Check Person – 2:21 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject who may be armed. Phone pinged. Areas canvassed. Subject located and contacted. Gun located/recovered. Subject conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject is voluntarily admitting at this time. Officers disengaged.
CENTRAL: Weapons Offense – 2:29 a.m. Officers responded to the 200 block of W. Gilman St for reports of shots fired. A vehicle parked on Gilman was struck approximately 6 times and 8 shell casings were located/recovered at the scene. No injuries reported. Incident Report on MPD's website completed.
SOUTH: Check Person – 6:14 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Areas checked. Phone ping conducted. Attempt to locate aired.
CENTRAL: Theft from Auto – 9:58 a.m. Two firearms were reported stolen from a vehicle. The firearms were listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Recovered/Stolen Vehicle – 10:30 a.m. An unoccupied stolen vehicle (from Stoughton) was located/recovered on Cottage Grove Rd.
WEST: Check Area – 10:58 a.m. Officers responded to the area of the Beltline and S. Gammon Rd reference a subject who displayed a gun after tailgating the complainant. Suspect vehicle/suspect not located. The complainant did not remain on scene and was not fully cooperative with officers.
MIDTOWN: Child Abuse – 11:03 a.m. Officers responded to a local hospital regarding concerning marks on a 2-year-old child. Child Protective Service notified. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Mental Health Conveyance – 11:06 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and placed into protective custody. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. An emergency detention was sought and approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
WEST: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 11:07 a.m. A 13-year-old male juvenile was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Recovered/Stolen Vehicle – 11:26 a.m. An unoccupied stolen vehicle was located/recovered on Hamlet Circle.
CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 11:55 a.m. Officers responded to a report of two subjects/suspects going through basement storage lockers in an apartment complex. Contact made with both suspects (37-year-old male and 35-year-old female). The male suspect was arrested/charged with burglary, possession of burglarious tools, theft, felony bail jumping (5 counts) and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts). The female suspect was admitted to a local hospital. Charges for the female suspect include burglary party to a crime, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping.
NORTH: Missing Adult – 1:43 p.m. A 35-year-old male was reported as being missing for 5 weeks. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
NORTH: Disturbance – 2:19 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male suspect. The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived. Areas checked for the suspect without success. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the suspect.
CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 3:38 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old female suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic substantial battery, domestic disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 7:36 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a juvenile subject/suspect. The juvenile was conveyed to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Emergency detention sought and approved. The juvenile was transported to Winnebago.
MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 8:12 p.m. A wanted suspect (17-year-old male) was arrested/charged with burglary.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 8:18 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 49-year-old male suspect. Suspect conveyed to a local hospital for a medical clearance. Suspect kicked an officer. The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic disorderly conduct, battery, resisting (2 counts), battery to law enforcement officer and attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 9:31 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 46-year-old male suspect. Concerns were noted about the suspect having access to a gun. Attempts made to contact the suspect without success. No other subjects found to be with the suspect so a decision was made to disengage at this time. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the suspect.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:44 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 10:50 p.m. Officers met with a victim who reported giving a ride to two females who later punched/choked her and then stolen her vehicle. The victim's vehicle was located/recovered unoccupied. Incident Report on MPD's website completed.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 12:47 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male suspect. A gun was reportedly involved. The suspect was arrested/charged with operating a firearm while intoxicated.
NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 2:48 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and battery.
