The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 08/24/2021 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/25/2021, MPD received 441 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (56),East (102), Midtown (60), North (62), South (45), West (83), and Other (33). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
08/24
NORTH: Trespassing – 6:16 a.m. A 43-year-old female was cited for trespassing after being observed on security cameras going through vehicles at a body shop on N. Stoughton Rd.
MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 7:21 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot. The keys were in the vehicle. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was reported as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Stolen Auto – 8:30 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. The keys were in the vehicle. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was located/recovered in the wooded area of Reindahl Park.
SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 8:32 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was reported as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 12:26 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male suspect. Probable cause developed. The suspect was contacted in another county by a local law enforcement agency and taken into custody. MPD met the other agency and took custody of the suspect. The suspect was conveyed to jail for domestic disorderly conduct.
NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:47 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (70-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office on scene. Decedent had a do-not-resuscitate order in place and numerous health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:42 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject/suspect (34-year-old male) damaging a vehicle with an object. Suspect not on scene when officers arrived but an investigation led to probable cause being developed for numerous charges for the suspect. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Residential Burglary – 3:17 p.m. Officers responded to a report of two unknown subjects/suspects (13-year-old male and 14-year-old male) entering a neighbor's open garage. Officers took both subjects/suspects into custody and charged them with one count of burglary each.
SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 5:45 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with two counts of domestic battery.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 9:02 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested/charged with disorderly conduct and substantial battery.
EAST: Disturbance – 11:00 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male suspect. The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the suspect.

NORTH: Drug Incident – 2:59 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject screaming in a hotel room with no answer when hotel staff attempted to check on the person. EMS also responded. A subject/suspect (42-year-old male) was contacted and showed signs of excited delirium. The suspect was placed into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital. Evidence of drug use on scene. Suspect admitted to a local hospital at this time and once released will be arrested/conveyed to jail on drug-related charges.
