The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.
From 6:00 a.m. on 05/05/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 05/06/2022, MPD received 372 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (74), East (86), Midtown (50), North (59), South (29), West (53), and Other (21). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 4:40 am. The victim reported that during an argument, the suspect (23-year-old male) strangled her, dragged her by the neck and kicked her. The suspect then shut her in a room and did not allow her to leave. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, strangulation, false imprisonment and intimidation of a victim. Suspect is at large.
NORTH: Child Abuse – 5:01 am. Officers responded to Meriter Hospital to assist with an investigation into possible child abuse. CPS was notified. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Theft – 5:29 am. Officers responded to a residence where a homeowner was woken by noise outside and observed two suspects running away from his vehicle and leaving the area in a van at a high rate of speed. The victim discovered his catalytic converter or a portion of it was stolen. Suspects are at large. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 12:37 pm. Officers responded to Walgreens where the suspect (59-year-old female) was yelling and threw a beverage on the floor. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
NORTH: Sexual Assault – 2:31 pm. Officers responded to a school to investigate an incident involving two suspects who have a history of bullying the victim. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 3:20 pm. During an argument the suspect (54-year-old male) threatened the victim and spit in her face. The suspect attempted to barricade the door when the victim called the police. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim.
EAST: Weapons Offense – 6:33 pm. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Nakoosa Trl where a victim was shot multiple times while standing on an apartment balcony. Incident report completed on MPD website. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Weapons Offense – 7:57 pm. A caller to dispatch reported that the occupants of a vehicle in the area of E Washington Ave and Baldwin St threatened him with a firearm. The suspect vehicle was later located traveling westbound on the beltline and a traffic stop was conducted. The suspects (21-year-old female and 36-year-old male) were charged with possession with intent to deliver several illegal drugs.
WEST: OMVWI – 9:11 pm. Two highly intoxicated suspects (22- and 49-year-old males) attempted to leave Vitense Golfland in a vehicle and crashed into another establishment, causing minor damage to the building. The suspects switched seats and again attempted to leave the area when officers arrived on scene and stopped the vehicle. Both suspects were arrested for OWI. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 9:44 pm. Officers responded to a hospital for a child that tested positive for marijuana. CPS also responded. No charges for the parents were substantiated.
NORTH: Drug Overdose – 10:44 pm. Officers responded to a residence for a 29-year-old male suspect who was not breathing and unresponsive. Subjects on scene administered naloxone and when officers arrived, the suspect was awake. The suspect was charged with possession of oxycodone.
MIDTOWN: Battery – 11:46 pm. The victim reported that while in a common area of his apartment building, the suspect (another resident) approached him and asked him for drugs. The victim denied having any drugs and the suspect then followed him into his apartment and struck him with a gun. The suspect then fled the scene. The suspect has yet to be positively identified and is at large. Investigation continuing.

WEST: Nonresidential Burglary – 1:05 am. The owner of a business received a notification from the alarm company. When the owner arrived at the business, she discovered a window was broken. Officers cleared the building and found no one inside. Investigation continuing.
