The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 07/08/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/11/2022, MPD received 1,380 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (255), East (299), Midtown (205), North (232), South (120), West (198), and Other (71). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

07/08

Priority calls only from 7:37 p.m. to 11:11 p.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Disturbance – 11:09 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (48-year-old male) was threatening to stab someone.  Officers made contact with the suspect and learned he had a warrant for his arrest.  The suspect swung at officers and attempted to disarm an officer of a taser.  The suspect was arrested for resist/obstruct and attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer.

WEST: Check Person – 11:21 a.m.  Officers contacted a subject who was having a mental health crisis.  The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a hospital.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 12:42 p.m.  Officers responded to a restaurant in the 300 block of N Frances St where the suspect (35-year-old male) was throwing things, attempting to hit patrons and blocking the door to prevent people from leaving.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Trespass – 1:37 p.m.  Staff at Goodwill reported that a suspect (31-year-old male) who had a warrant for his arrest was in the store trespassing.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

EAST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 2:59 p.m.  The victim reported that a known suspect (17-year-old male) sexually assaulted her.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 3:34 p.m.  Officers responded to the 600 block of Williamson St where the suspect (33-year-old male) was refusing to leave after being asked to do so by staff.  The suspect was arrested for trespass to medical facility and disorderly conduct.

WEST: Violation of Court Order – 4:07 p.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (31-year-old male) was outside her residence and was repeatedly calling her in violation of a restraining order.  The suspect was arrested for violating a domestic abuse injunction.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:01 p.m.  During an ongoing dispute, the suspect (37-year-old female) threatened the victim and her family members several times.  The suspect also followed the victim when she left her residence in her vehicle.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect with stalking and disorderly conduct.  The suspect is at large.

SOUTH: Runaway/Missing Juvenile – 7:05 p.m.  A mother reported her 14-year-old daughter had run away.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:43 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (43-year-old female) and victim were arguing.  At one point the suspect threatened the victim while the suspect was holding a knife.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:50 p.m.  During an argument the victim reported that the suspect (30-year-old male) threw food at her and stood over her as if he was going to hit her.  The suspect broke the victim's phone when she said she was going to call the police.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim.  Suspect is at large.

Priority calls only from 10:33 p.m. to 11:06 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Traffic Arrest – 1:46 a.m.  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of E Washington Ave and N Baldwin St.  The suspect/driver (35-year-old male) drove away from the stop, abandoned his vehicle in a parking lot and fled on foot.  The suspect was apprehended and arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, fleeing/eluding, and resisting.

EAST: Disturbance – 2:43 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (41-year-old male) became angry, grabbed a knife and made disturbing statements to other people in the home.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 3:03 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject who reportedly made suicidal statements.  Officers made contact with the subject who was voluntarily transported to the hospital and left in the care of medical staff.

MIDTOWN: Theft from Auto – 4:20 a.m.  Dispatch received a call from a subject who reported that an unknown suspect was going through his vehicle.  The victim yelled at the suspect who walked away carrying a bag.  The victim reported nothing of value was stolen. 

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 10:40 a.m.  A victim reported being sexually assaulted.  Investigation continuing. 

CENTRAL: Mental Health Conveyance – 1:24 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a knife.  A subject was detained and was found to have an active Chapter 51 return in place.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and a return is in the works. **Subject transported to Winnebago.     

MIDTOWN: Check Person – 2:22 p.m.  Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention.  Journey Mental Health plugged in.  Final placement pending. 

WEST: Check Area – 3:54 p.m.  Officers responded to reports of shots fired.  Areas checked.  No evidence of shots fired located. 

WEST: Recovered/Stolen Vehicle – 4:11 p.m.  A stolen vehicle (from Fitchburg) was located/recovered after several subjects parked the vehicle and fled on foot.  Fitchburg PD responded to process the vehicle.  

CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 4:47 p.m.  A 39-year-old male was reported as missing.  Areas checked.  Attempt to locate aired.  The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 7:28 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male suspect.  Suspect is at-large.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:29 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male suspect.  Suspect is at-large.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

EAST: Armed Robbery – 10:22 p.m.  A victim was approached by an armed male suspect wearing a mask.  The suspect demanded the victim's bicycle.  The suspect fled on the bike.  Incident Report on MPD's website completed. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:18 p.m.  A 21-year-old male wanted subject/suspect was taken into custody.  The suspect was arrested for possession of cocaine/fentanyl, felony bail jumping and numerous other charges from another law enforcement agency.

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 12:49 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (62-year-old male).  Decedent had health/medical concerns.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 1:11 a.m.  A 28-year-old male wanted suspect was taken into custody.  The suspect was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, a probation/parole hold and several outstanding warrants. 

EAST: Disturbance – 3:50 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, a probation hold and a city ordinance for trespassing. 

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 4:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a subject who also made suicidal subjects.  Subject/suspect remains at-large.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. The subject/suspect was also listed as missing in the appropriate databases.  

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 6:00 a.m.  Officers responded to a local hospital regarding a vehicle that needed to be towed per the Medical Examiner's office.  Officers discovered that a female (29-year-old) was brought to the hospital the night before and was pronounced deceased.  Investigation continuing.    

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 7:18 a.m.  A stolen vehicle was observed and contact was made with the driver/suspect (20-year-old male) who attempted to walk away.  The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and bail jumping. 

WEST: Non-Residential Burglary – 8:31 a.m.  Several businesses were broken into and items were stolen. 

CENTRAL: Disorderly Conduct – 12:23 p.m.  Probable cause was developed to arrest a 35-year-old male suspect for disorderly conduct.  Suspect remains at-large. **Suspect located and arrested. 

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 12:46 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 5:53 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance observed in a vehicle.  One of the subjects involved (male) was located and contacted.  The second subject has not been located at this time.  The 21-year-old male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.  Additional charges may be forthcoming. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 9:23 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old male. Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:16 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:27 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. 

SOUTH: Disturbance – 2:22 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once she is located.
