The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 07/11/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/12/2022, MPD received 462 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (78),East (96), Midtown (81), North (75), South (43), West (62), and Other (27). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 12:12 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 3:38 p.m. to 8:41 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Check Area – 4:13 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of E. Wilson St.  Casings located.  No injuries or property damage reported. 

NORTH: Check Person – 6:25 a.m.  Officers responded to what was originally dispatched as a disturbance.  A subject contacted made suicidal statements.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and subsequently to detox. 

SOUTH: Damage to Property – 8:41 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of damage located (bullet hole) at a business. 

WEST: Recovered/Stolen Auto – 8:44 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of two subjects going in and out of two vehicles that were damaged.  Both vehicles were confirmed to be stolen.  A 12-year-old male and 17-year-old male were arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger). 

CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 10:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a suspicious subject walking around an apartment building's secured underground parking garage.  The subject/suspect (59-year-old male) was arrested for burglary, possession of burglarious tools and served with a bench warrant for failure to appear on a previous trespass charge. 

EAST: Crash – 11:41 a.m.  Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash with several subjects running from the area (S. Stoughton Rd/Buckeye Rd).  The suspect vehicle was confirmed stolen.  Three of the four subjects who fled were located and detained.  A 17-year-old female was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent.  A 17-year-old male was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger).  An 18-year-old female was given an order in date for operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger).   

SOUTH: Damage to Property – 2:57 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of juveniles causing damage to a vehicle.  A 13-year-old male was cited and released for retail theft and criminal damage to property (party to a crime).  A 14-year-old was arrested for criminal damage to property (party to a crime) and obstructing.    

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 3:33 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance at the Apple store.  A 20-year-old male caused a disturbance, pushed staff and punched a security guard.  The suspect was arrested for substantial battery (2 counts) and disorderly conduct.  Journey Mental Health consulted. 

EAST: Disturbance – 3:45 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a large group of juveniles fighting.  An 18-year-old female suspect was arrested for resisting.  Officers left the area but were called back for additional fighting taking place.  Most on scene were uncooperative with officers.  A 34-year-old female suspect was transported to jail to post on a disorderly conduct citation.  Officers remained in the area for several hours.  Over 100 adults and juveniles were present and refused to cooperate with officers and leave the area when asked to. 

CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 5:37 p.m.  A 25-year-old male subject was reported as missing and possibly suicidal.  Areas checked.  Phone pinged.  Attempt to locate aired.  The subject was located and his welfare was checked.  No legal action deemed necessary by officers at this time.  Officers disengaged after a safety plan was developed. 

EAST: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 7:08 p.m.  A 15-year-old female juvenile was reported as missing/runaway.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.  

MIDTOWN: Assist Law Enforcement – 9:34 p.m.  Officers assisted Janesville PD take a wanted suspect into custody on Grant Canyon Drive.  The suspect (30-year-old male) received a new charge of resisting from MPD. 

NORTH: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 10:40 p.m.  A 15-year-old female juvenile was reported as missing/runaway.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.  The juvenile is a chronic runaway.

NORTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 11:20 p.m.  Officers responded to a sexual assault of a child report. Investigation ongoing.

NORTH: Suspicious Vehicle – 12:02 a.m.  Officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle/occupants.  A strong odor of marijuana emanated from the vehicle.  Several subjects were detained.  The vehicle was searched and a loaded gun was located.  A 17-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm (under 18 y/o), endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and bail jumping. 

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:08 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. 

CENTRAL: Hit and Run – 1:51 a.m.  A driver/suspect (28-year-old male) struck a bicyclist, stopped and then left the area prior to officers arriving.  The bicyclist was not injured.  The suspect was located and arrested for hit-and-run to a pedestrian and disorderly conduct.
