The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 07/22/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/25/2022, MPD received 1,380 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (263), East (259), Midtown (225), North (260), South (108), West (215), and Other (50). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 4:51 a.m. During an argument the suspect (42-year-old male) broke the victim's finger. The suspect was arrested for domestic substantial battery.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 8:07 a.m. Officers located a wanted suspect (37-year-old female) who was taken into custody without incident.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 9:05 a.m. Officers responded to the 600 block of State St where the suspect (43-year-old male) was aggressively panhandling, yelling and pushing passersby. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.
NORTH: Homicide – 11:22 a.m. Officers responded to the 1700 block of Vahlen St where callers to dispatch reported hearing the sound of gunfire and seeing people running from a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. Officers located a victim deceased with a gunshot wound. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 1:53 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital where a patient was causing a disturbance. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health who supported an emergency detention. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a mental health facility.
MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 4:41 p.m. Officers responded to the Brittingham Park Boathouse where the suspect (22-year-old male) punched the boathouse manager, ripped his shirt and pulled his hair. The suspect punched and spat on several other victims. The suspect was arrested for battery, attempted battery of a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, damage to property and resisting. **Suspect was later released from jail under an emergency detention order and conveyed to Winnebago.
EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 7:01 p.m. Officers observed a wanted subject/suspect (21-year-old male) who had warrants for his arrest. The suspect was taken into custody for bail jumping, criminal damage to property, and threats to law enforcement.
EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 7:32 p.m. Officers responded to E Washington Ave at Hwy 30 where a driver/suspect (54-year-old female) veered off the road and crashed into a tree and light pole. The suspect was transported to the hospital. Suspect was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
NORTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 9:57 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a report of a suspect (13-year-old male) sexually assaulting a younger child. Child Protective Services notified. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 11:19 p.m. Officers responded to the 500 block of State St where the suspect (39-year-old male) yelled at and pushed the victim and put him in a choke hold. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery and strangulation.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 11:42 p.m. Officers patrolling State St observed people fighting on N Frances St. As officers attempted to move the crowd along, they observed the suspect (18-year-old female) strike the victim. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 1:28 a.m. Officers in the area of W Gilman and State St observed a wanted subject/suspect (37-year-old male). The suspect spit on an officer after he was taken into custody. The suspect faces an additional charge of discharging bodily fluids at public safety worker.
NORTH: Disturbance – 6:33 a.m. The victim reported she awoke to the sounds of the suspect (24-year-old female) smashing the windows of her two vehicles. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for criminal damage to property. Suspect is at large.
EAST: Death Investigation – 10:33 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where a subject (62-year-old male) was discovered deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.
WEST: Theft from Auto – 12:36 p.m. The victim reported two unidentified suspects stole his wallet from his vehicle. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Traffic Incident – 5:19 p.m. A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle/driver fled. Officers did not pursue. Driver/suspect (35-year-old female) identified and probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once she is located.
SOUTH: Disturbance – 7:28 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male suspect armed with a gun and a knife. The suspect was taken into custody and arrested for disorderly conduct while armed. A knife was recovered. No gun was located.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 9:46 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male suspect. The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. **Suspect located and arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic battery.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 12:13 a.m. A 35-year-old male suspect was taken into custody for violating his bail conditions (which prohibit him from being on State St), threats to law enforcement and misdemeanor bail jumping (9 counts).
NORTH: Damage to Property – 12:33 a.m. Officers responded to a convenience store regarding broken windows. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 1:15 a.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital. Final outcome pending. ** Subject obtained a medical clearance and was subsequently conveyed to a mental health facility.
WEST: Stolen Auto – 1:59 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen by a known acquaintance/subject to the victim. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. **Vehicle was returned. The subject was placed into protective custody under a Chapter 51 return. Subject obtained a medical clearance and was subsequently conveyed to a mental health facility.
MIDTOWN: Residential Burglary – 2:39 a.m. Officers responded to a residential burglary. Nothing reported missing at this time. Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.
NORTH: Stolen Auto – 2:44 p.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
NORTH: Check Person – 3:27 p.m. Officers responded, along with EMS, to a subject who was experiencing a drug overdose. Caller not cooperative when officers arrived on scene. CCR was performed and Naloxone was administered. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. No charges substantiated at this time.
SOUTH: Check Area – 4:36 p.m. Officers in Penn Park observed several subjects with open intoxicants. Officers issued 4 citations for open intoxicants. An arrest was made due to a subject/suspect having an outstanding warrant.
NORTH: Death Investigation – 7:05 p.m. Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a subject. Entry made to the residence and the subject (67-year-old female) was located deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.
EAST: Check Person – 7:40 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was located and conveyed to a local hospital. The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago.
EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 8:20 p.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject/driver (30-year-old female) passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle that was in the middle of traffic. The suspect was determined to be impaired. The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense).
EAST: Disturbance – 8:24 p.m. Officers responded to a juvenile shelter reference a disturbance involving a 13-year-old female. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center for criminal damage to property.
EAST: Disturbance – 9:15 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance. The suspect was provided a referral to restorative justice for battery.

NORTH: Crash – 2:16 a.m. Officers responded to a motorcycle crash with a witness reporting the two people on the motorcycle fled on foot. Areas checked and the subjects were not located. Investigation continuing.
