The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 08/19/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/22/2022, MPD received 1,189 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (287), East (235), Midtown (177), North (209), South (105), West (142), and Other (34). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 9:39 a.m. to 12:37 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 3:19 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 6:05 p.m. to 9:05 p.m. due to calls for service.

WEST: Sexual Assault – 3:16 a.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (29-year-old male) sexually assaulted her.  When the victim attempted to push the suspect off of her, he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground.  The suspect strangled the victim and banged her head on the floor.  The suspect bit the victim and kicked her in the head.  Officers arrested the suspect for 3rd degree sexual assault, battery, strangulation, and false imprisonment.

WEST: Residential Burglary – 4:48 a.m.  The victim reported an unidentified suspect stole his garage door opener and stole valuable items from his garage.  Investigation continuing.

WEST: Theft from Auto – 6:05 a.m.  The victims reported they heard their garage door open and discovered an unidentified suspect had stolen keys and the garage door opener from their unlocked vehicle.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Assist Police – 6:10 a.m.  Officers responded to the 800 block of Langdon St for a report of a body floating in the water behind the Memorial Union.  UWPD is in charge of the investigation.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 7:53 a.m.  The victim reported an unidentified suspect entered her garage using a garage door opener located in an unlocked vehicle, entered the home and took the vehicle keys.  The suspect then stole the victim's vehicle.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 8:40 a.m.  Officers responded to Walgreens where the suspect (26-year-old male) and victim were seated in a vehicle.  While an officer made contact with the suspect who was in the driver's seat, the suspect suddenly put the vehicle in motion and dragged the officer a short distance before fleeing the area.  The victim reported that during an argument earlier at their residence, the suspect struck her several times and threatened her with a knife.  Suspect is at large.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic battery, disorderly conduct while armed, 1st degree reckless endangerment, resisting/obstructing, and multiple counts of bail jumping. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (30-year-old male) was yelling and making threatening statements.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Traffic Crash – 11:09 a.m.  The suspect (61-year-old male) struck the victim with his vehicle as she attempted to cross E Washington Ave near Blair St.  The suspect fled the scene but was later located at his residence.  Officers arrested the suspect for hit and run involving injury.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:02 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence from which the landlord reported a foul odor was emanating.  The landlord entered the apartment and found the subject (62-year-old male) deceased.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Damage to Property – 2:57 p.m.  Officers responded to a business where staff reported they discovered a hole through a double paned window which was consistent with a bullet hole.  No bullets were located.  Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 4:56 p.m.  Officers responded to a hospital for a patient who needed to be transported to a mental health facility.  The transport took place without incident.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 4:56 p.m.  Journey Mental Health requested that officers assist with placing a subject into protective custody who was under a Chapter 51 commitment.  Officers responded to the residence where the suspect (40-year-old male) punched the victim, his girlfriend, several times while she attempted to gain his compliance with the emergency detention process.  The suspect will be charged with domestic disorderly conduct and battery and was conveyed to a hospital.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 10:02 p.m.  During an argument the suspect (66-year-old female) hit the victim in the face and threw a plant at his head.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

EAST: Runaway Juvenile – 10:17 p.m.  A subject reported that her 13-year-old niece ran away.  The juvenile was later located but was uncooperative with officers and was booked into the Juvenile Reception Center for resisting.

NORTH: Check Person – 10:59 p.m.  Officers responded to the Super 8 Motel for a suicidal subject.  The subject was voluntarily transported to a hospital.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:12 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (21-year-old male) grabbed the victim and tried to push her into his vehicle.  A friend of the victim attempted to intervene and called police, at which point the suspect grabbed her phone and broke it.  The suspect then took a bat from his car and threatened the victims.  The suspect later returned to the scene and was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and damage to property.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Person – 1:14 a.m.  Officers responded to the 600 block of W Main St for an intoxicated suspect (50-year-old male) in the doorway of a building.  Detox would not accept the suspect due to his behavior so he was booked into the jail for two counts of bail jumping.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:26 a.m.  During an argument, the suspect (43-year-old male) threatened to kill the victim and pushed her into a door, causing her to fall.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.  Suspect is at large.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 7:15 a.m.  An officer made contact with a suspect (51-year-old male) who provided a false name.  Upon learning his true identity, the officer arrested the suspect who was wanted on multiple warrants.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:06 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where during an argument between the suspect and victim, the suspect (39-year-old male) called a third party on the phone and was yelling at and threatening him.  This behavior frightened family members in the residence.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 1:27 p.m.  A 39-year-old female suspect was arrested for possession with intent THC. 

NORTH: Mental Health Conveyance – 1:59 p.m.  Officers assisted with a conveyance of a subject from a local hospital to Winnebago. 

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 2:27 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting. 

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 3:22 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and a probation violation. 

CENTRAL: Traffic Arrest – 8:17 p.m.  A 26-year-old male suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).  A gun and drugs were in the vehicle. Additional charges forthcoming. 

EAST: Drug Incident – 9:34 p.m.  A 50-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:52 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located.

Priority calls only from 9:20 p.m. to 11:04 p.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Disturbance – 12:30 a.m.  Officers responded to the 5100 block of Great Gray Drive for a fight in progress.  Officers arrived on scene and no one was cooperative.  No injuries reported. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 12:45 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 1:55 a.m.  A 19-year-old male was reported as missing.  Attempt to locate aired.  Areas checked. 

NORTH: Death Investigation – 7:07 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (53-year-old male).  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Decedent had a history of drug use.  Nothing suspicious identified at this time.  Autopsy pending. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 10:33 a.m.  A 41-year-old male suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. 

CENTRAL: Drug Incident – 4:38 p.m.  A 40-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, felony bail jumping, trespassing and a probation/parole hold.  A 46-year-old female suspect was cited/released for trespassing. 

NORTH: Drug Incident – 6:06 p.m.  A 34-year-old male suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possession with intent to deliver THC. 

MIDTOWN: Intoxicated Driver – 8:28 p.m.  A 53-year-old male driver/suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (7th offense), hit-and-run, no driver's license and a probation/parole hold. 

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 9:02 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. 

MIDTOWN: Injured Person – 9:12 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a subject with a graze wound.  Suspect identified but not located at this time.  Investigation continuing. 

NORTH: Disturbance – 9:28 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect. 

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 10:12 p.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  The keys were inside the unlocked vehicle. Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

CENTRAL: Check Person – 11:42 p.m.  Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject.  Attempt to locate aired.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 2:01 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located.
