The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 09/08/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/09/2022, MPD received 396 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (76), East (74), Midtown (58), North (84), South (42), West (47), and Other (15). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Priority calls only from 11:15pm to 12:45am due to calls for service.
09/08
NORTH: Death Investigation – 7:49 am. Officers responded to a residence where staff discovered the subject (78-year-old female) deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
CENTRAL: Check Person – 11:30 am. Officers responded to a residence where a subject was reportedly on his front porch threatening to shoot people. Officers did not locate a gun on the subject. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health and the subject was transported to a hospital where he was voluntarily admitted.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 5:20 pm. Officers observed a suspect (19-year-old male) at James Madison Park who had probable cause for his arrest. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 6:09 pm. Officers responded to W Main St on the square for two subjects who were shouting at each other. The suspect (59-year-old male) had picked up a walking staff and was waving it around. The suspect was arrested on a warrant and conveyed to jail.
EAST: Check Person Weapon – 7:16 pm. Officers responded to a residence where a subject had reportedly discharged a firearm in an attempt to harm herself. The subject was uninjured and officers found no evidence that a gun had been fired. The subject was transported to a hospital.
WEST: Traffic Crash – 10:28 pm. Officers responded to a parking lot where a subject took a curve too fast and struck a pole. The crash occurred on private property so no citation was issued.
SOUTH: Hit and Run Crash – 11:02 pm. The suspect (31-year-old male) crashed his car into an unoccupied vehicle at W Olin Ave and Hickory St and left the scene. The suspect was located and arrested for OMVWI 4th offense and hit and run.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 1:45 am. Officers responded to the 300 block of N Henry St where the suspect (29-year-old male) was making inappropriate comments and unwanted advances towards the victim. The victim's friend told the suspect to stop and the suspect then smashed the windshield of the car the victim was in. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
NORTH: Check Person – 4:10 am. Officers responded to a residence for a subject who was reportedly suicidal. The subject was transported to a hospital.
EAST: Nonresidential Burglary – 4:14 am. Officers responded to the Mobil gas station at 605 Cottage Grove Rd for an alarm. Officers discovered a broken window but determined no one entered the business. Investigation continuing.
