The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 10/13/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/14/2022, MPD received 433 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (94), East (95), Midtown (72), North (60), South (34), West (59), and Other (19). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 6:33 am. Officers responded to the Super 8 hotel where the victim reported his vehicle was stolen from the parking lot. The vehicle was listed as stolen and an ATL was aired. Dane County Sheriff Deputies located the vehicle at a Super 8 in the town of Windsor.
NORTH: Theft – 9:00 am. The suspect (36-year-old female) stole a computer and credit card from the victim. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for theft, obstructing and a warrant for failure to appear. Suspect is at large.
CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 9:12 am. Officers contacted a victim who reported her ex-boyfriend drugged and sexually assaulted her several years ago. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Theft from Auto – 9:39 am. The victim reported his firearm was stolen from his vehicle. The firearm was entered as stolen in the data base.
WEST: Sexual Assault – 10:01 am. The victim reported that a known suspect sexually assaulted her. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Weapons Offense Person w/ Gun – 1:49 pm. The suspect (51-year-old male) and victims were traveling in a vehicle on Commercial Ave near N Sprecher Rd when the suspect exited the vehicle armed with a gun and berated the victim for her poor driving. Officers seized the suspect's gun and charged him with disorderly conduct while armed.
NORTH: Check Person – 2:33 pm. Officers assisted Journey Mental Health with the emergency detention of a subject who was voluntarily admitted to a hospital.
NORTH: 911 Multiple/Nuisance Calls – 4:03 pm. CARES contacted a subject who has a history of misusing 911. Officers then responded to cite the subject for misuse of 911.
NORTH: Drug Incident/Investigation – 6:25 pm. An officer monitoring a parking lot observed a vehicle involved in suspicious activity. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle which did not have a front license plate. Officers located a large amount of marijuana in the vehicle. The suspect (23-year-old male) was arrested and charged with possession with intent marijuana.
EAST: Sexual Assault – 6:37 pm. The victim reported she was sexually assaulted several weeks ago by a known suspect (34-year-old male). Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Check Property – 8:37 pm. Officers responded to the area of Rimrock Rd and Moorland Rd for multiple reports of shots fired. Officers located no evidence of shots fired. There were no reports of injured persons or damaged property.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 8:53 pm. Officers located a wanted suspect (49-year-old male) in the 800 block of E Mifflin St. The suspect was taken into custody without incident on charges of sexual assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine.

CENTRAL: Aggravated Battery – 12:54 am. The suspect (35-year-old male) slapped the first victim in the face when the victim attempted to intervene in an argument the suspect was having with his girlfriend at Whiskey Jacks on State St. The suspect then punched a second victim who confronted him about the slap. The suspect was arrested and charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct.
CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 3:21 am. Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (32-year-old female) and victim were arguing. The suspect armed herself with a knife and the argument escalated to a physical struggle. The victim was uncooperative with officers and was arrested for resisting. The suspect was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.
