The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 12/08/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 12/09/2022, MPD received 415 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (63), East (103), Midtown (74), North (75), South (33), West (45), and Other (22). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Priority calls only from 11:25am to 12:28pm, 12:51am to 2:21am, and 3:21am to 5:26am due to calls for service.

NORTH: Missing Adult – 9:36 am. Officers took a report of a missing 29-year-old male. The subject was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
NORTH: Weapons Offense – 10:17 am. A caller to dispatch reported finding shell casings in the 2000 block of Portage Rd. Officers collected the shell casings and canvassed the area.
MIDTOWN: Theft – 10:46 am. Officers responded to the 2000 block of Red Arrow Trl where the 31-year-old male suspect entered an unlocked delivery truck and stole a computer tablet and a wallet. The suspect was arrested and charged with theft and resisting.
WEST: Battery – 2:16 pm. Officers responded to a school where the 13-year-old female suspect punched a staff member in the head. The suspect was arrested for battery and conveyed to JRC.
WEST: Bomb Threat – 2:30 pm. Officers made contact with a juvenile who posted on Facebook that he was going to shoot up his school and detonate a bomb. Officers determined the threat was not serious. MMSD was made aware.
MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault of a Child – 3:00 pm. Officers investigated a report of possible sexual assault of a child.
WEST: Disturbance – 3:19 pm. Officers responded twice to the Dane County Credit Union where the 41-year-old male suspect was making threatening and disconcerting statements. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
SOUTH: Child Abuse – 4:16 pm. Officers contacted several family members who were involved in an argument that became physical. The 42-year-old female suspect punched and slapped two of her children. The suspect was arrested for physical abuse to a child and disorderly conduct.
CENTRAL: Runaway Juvenile – 4:30 pm. A mother reported that her 17-year-old daughter had run away. The juvenile was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:39 pm. Officers responded to a residence where the 34-year-old female suspect punched the victim during an argument. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic battery, disorderly conduct and damage to property.
CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 7:37 pm. Officers responded to a residence where the 41-year-old female suspect attempted to punch the victim, who fled the home. The suspect then sent over 100 text messages in a short period of time to the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and unlawful use of computerized communication system.
MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 9:03 pm. Officers responded to a hospital where a subject attempted to harm himself. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a mental health facility.
NORTH: Drug Incident/Investigation – 9:24 pm. An officer in the 1400 block of Northport Dr observed the 34-year-old suspect engaged in activity indicative of short-term traffic. The suspect was arrested on a warrant and was newly charged for possession of cocaine.
MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 11:44 pm. Officers responded to a hospital where the 24-year-old suspect was behaving belligerently and slapped a nurse's hand. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and battery.
12/09
SOUTH: Traffic Arrest – 12:45 am. During a routine traffic stop, officers searched the suspect vehicle and located a firearm in the 43-year-old female suspect's purse. The suspect was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 1:52 am. A victim reported that an known suspect sexually assaulted her at his residence. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 2:39 am. Officers contacted a subject who drove her vehicle into the lake at Marshall Park. The subject was voluntarily admitted to a local hospital.
MIDTOWN: Traffic Crash – 3:02 am. Officers responded to the 5100 block of Raymond Rd where a vehicle crashed into a pole. Several residents reported loss of power. MG&E responded. No injuries were reported. No charges for the driver were substantiated.
MIDTOWN: Drug Overdose – 4:15 am. Officers and MFD paramedics responded to a residence for a subject who was found down. The subject was transported to the hospital. Charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation.
