The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 04/28/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 05/01/2023, MPD received 1,247 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (299), East (235), Midtown (170), North (196), South (117), West (149), and Other (81). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 5:14 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. due to calls for service.

MIDTOWN: Check Area – 5:36 a.m.  Around 1:00 a.m. officers responded to the area of Hammersley Rd and Whitney Way for a report of shots fired.  Officers were unable to locate evidence of shots fired.  Later, officers received information that fired shell casings were located in the area of Gilbert Rd and Flad Ave.  Officers recovered the shell casings and one unfired round.  There were no signs or reports of damaged property or injured persons.

NORTH: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 6:04 a.m.  An 11-year-old female was reported as missing/runaway.  Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed in the appropriate databases as missing/runaway.

NORTH: Child Abuse – 10:43 a.m.  Officers assisted Child Protective Services with an investigation into alleged child abuse.  Investigation continuing.

WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 11:44 a.m.  Officers placed a subject into protective custody for whom there was a Chapter 51 return.  The subject was conveyed to a hospital and left in the care of medical staff.

WEST: Death Investigation – 2:11 p.m.  Officers responded to an assisted living facility where staff reported that a 101-year-old female resident had passed away.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Disturbance – 3:19 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving numerous subjects. Three female subjects (ages 12, 15 and 17) were cited for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Strong Arm Robbery – 3:30 p.m.  The victim reported an unidentified subject approached him as he was walking in the area of E Johnson St and N Fifth St and told him to give him his phone or he would shoot him.  The subject took the phone and fled in a vehicle.  Investigation continuing.

WEST: Disturbance – 7:10 p.m.  Officers responded to West Towne Mall where the 24-year-old male subject became confrontational with jewelry store staff and threatened to steal jewelry.  Mall security responded and the subject fought with them.  The subject was arrested for attempted robbery, attempted 4th degree sexual assault, disorderly conduct, battery, attempted battery to law enforcement and resisting.

EAST: Traffic Crash – 7:55 p.m.  Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near East Towne Mall.  The driver/vehicle fled but was later observed at E Washington Ave and Ingersoll St where the vehicle collided with another vehicle.  No injuries were reported.  The 18-year-old male driver was arrested for fleeing/eluding an officer.  Additional charges may be forthcoming.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:50 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 10:07 p.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen by a 52-year-old male subject. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

Priority calls only from 10:30 a.m. to 12:09 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 9:59 p.m. to 11:49 p.m. due to calls for service.

MIDTOWN: Substantial Battery – 12:23 a.m.  Officers responded to a bar for a disturbance and found a victim unconscious after an unidentified suspect punched him in the head.  Two other involved subjects located the suspect nearby and an altercation ensued in which a second unidentified suspect punched one of the subjects, rendering him unconscious.  The suspects remain at large.  Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Intoxicated Driver – 2:47 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the 23-year-old male subject was knocking on the door.  Officers determined the subject was highly intoxicated and had driven to a random home after crashing his car at an undetermined location.  The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense) and resisting.

SOUTH: Traffic Crash – 5:33 a.m.  Officers responded to John Nolen Dr at Olin Ave for a two-vehicle collision.  A 38-year-old male driver was cited for failure to yield.

EAST: Death Investigation – 6:42 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (87-year-old male).  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:00 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject.  The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.

EAST: Death Investigation – 11:01 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where caregivers reported a 76-year-old man had passed away.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:42 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 53-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and domestic battery.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:58 p.m. A subject stopped by a district to provide information regarding a domestic disturbance. Attempts were made to contact the 32-year-old male subject (probable cause was developed to arrest him) but the subject refused to come out of the home. Officers made the decision to disengage at this time. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Battery – 6:50 p.m. A 19-year-old female subject was arrested for battery to a healthcare worker and disorderly conduct.

EAST: Injured Person – 9:45 p.m. A subject showed up at a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm. Information was obtained that the subject and another subject were in possession of a firearm when it was dropped and the gun discharged striking the subject. One of the subjects was cited for negligent handling of a firearm.

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 12:23 a.m. Officers responded to disturbance involving a 20-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for substantial battery and resisting.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 2:19 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 17-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery to law enforcement.  

WEST: Death Investigation – 7:52 a.m. Officers responded to an assisted living facility for a deceased subject (70-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:48 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects (both not located). Investigation continuing.

EAST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 12:21 p.m. Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. A 23-year-old male subject was arrested for domestic substantial battery and misdemeanor bail jumping. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 12:33 p.m. Officers responded to a report of driver/vehicle striking a subject and her dog. The subject sustained injuries. The driver/vehicle fled the scene. The driver (80-year-old male) was located and arrested for hit-and-run causing injury and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 8:48 p.m. A 71-year-old male subject was arrested for misappropriate identification, multiple counts of bail jumping and outstanding warrants.

EAST: Battery – 9:37 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for battery to a firefighter.

WEST: Check Area – 11:09 p.m. Officers responded to Mid Town Road for a report of shots fired. Areas checked.  No evidence of shots fired located.

05/01

SOUTH: Intoxicated Driver – 12:32 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver/subject (24-year-old male subject) was determined to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3nd offense), operating after revocation, a probation hold and failure to register vehicle citation.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 12:49 p.m. A 31-year-old male subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

WEST: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 1:30 a.m. A 12-year-old female subject was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

NORTH: Check Person – 2:48 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Attempt to locate aired. Phone pinged. Areas checked. Subject not located at this time.
