The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 07/11/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/12/2023, MPD received 504 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (88),East (112), Midtown (90), North (82), South (52), West (71), and Other (9). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Check Person – 7:36 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a suicidal subject armed with a gun. The subject was contacted and taken into protective custody. The subject was conveyed to Detox.
EAST: Check Area – 8:50 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject (23-year-old male) who, while being escorted off premises for trespassing, had a gun fall out of their clothing. Officers responded to check the area. The subject was located and arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, a probation violation and bail jumping (2 counts)
EAST: Found Property – 9:43 a.m. Officers located a large trailer containing items that were reported stolen. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Death Investigation – 9:44 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (71-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
EAST: Mental Health Conveyance – 10:52 a.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was taken into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Emergency detention sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago by a third-party transport.
CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 1:46 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance/trespassing involving a 72-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct (3 counts). The subject was also cited for trespassing.
MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 2:01 p.m. Officers responded to a hospital for a suicidal subject. Journey Mental Health consulted. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending.
SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 4:42 p.m. A rental vehicle was reported as not returned/stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 6:22 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic stalking and domestic false imprisonment.
EAST: Residential Burglary – 6:59 p.m. Caller reported numerous subjects inside their neighbor's garage. The caller shouted at the subjects who fled in a vehicle. A few minutes later a vehicle was reported stolen from the same area. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. *At 10:04 p.m. officers responded to a report of a strong armed robbery, involving the stolen vehicle.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 8:27 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 75-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery and intimidation of a victim (all domestic-related charges).
SOUTH: Death Investigation – 9:50 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (80-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:29 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.
WEST: Check Person – 10:34 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (72-year-old male). Officers had contact with the same subject earlier in the day. The subject threatened staff at his group home. As officers were taking the subject into custody he resisted. An officer obtained a minor injury. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, battery to law enforcement and threats to law enforcement.
EAST: Check Area – 11:23 p.m. Officers responded to the 5300 block of Congress Ave for multiple reports of shots fired. Additional reports were made about shots fired in the 3600 block of Burke Rd (county dispatched as they have jurisdiction). Evidence of shots fired located in the county's jurisdiction. They have the lead on this investigation.

WEST: Check Area – 12:01 a.m. Officers responded to Schroeder Court for reports of shots fired. No evidence of shots fired located at this time.
MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 12:07 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstructing and felony bail jumping.
CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 12:55 a.m. A 30-year-old male was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
