The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 08/03/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/04/2023, MPD received 537 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (90), East (84), Midtown (71), North (75), South (64), West (63), and Other (19). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Priority calls only from 8:56am to 10:16am, from 1:03pm to 7:36pm, and from 9:03pm until 4:27am due to calls for service.
08/03
NORTH: Drug Overdose – 7:51 am. Officers responded to McDonald's where the 33-year-old male suspect was discovered unconscious in his car. The suspect was transported to the hospital and charged with possession of heroin.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 7:47 am. Officers responded to a residence where during an argument the 17-year-old male suspect strangled and slapped the victim, took her phone and prevented her from leaving. The suspect also threatened to kill the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic strangulation, false imprisonment, battery and disorderly conduct.
EAST: Death Investigation – 7:57 am. A caregiver discovered a 72-year-old woman deceased in her residence. Nothing suspicious on scene.
MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 8:52 am. A caregiver discovered a 70-year-old woman deceased in her residence. Nothing suspicious on scene.
WEST: Safety Hazard – 5:24 pm. Officers assisted with traffic control on Gammon Rd during a brief power outage.
MIDTOWN: Runaway Juvenile – 6:36 pm. Family members reported that a 13-year-old juvenile ran away. The boy was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
EAST: Disturbance/Traffic Incident – 8:44 pm. Officers responded to Ho-Chunk Casino where the suspect and victim were arguing. The 31-year-old female suspect attempted to leave in her vehicle. The victim chased the vehicle on foot and was injured as a result. The suspect was charged with hit and run causing injury.
CENTRAL: Check Person – 8:51 pm. Officers contacted a female subject who was suicidal. She was transported to the hospital and voluntarily admitted.
MIDTOWN: Check Property – 8:59 pm. Several callers to dispatch reported hearing shots fired in the area of Crawford Dr and Atticus Way. Officers responded to the area and did not find any fired shell casings, damage to property or injured persons.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 10:01 pm. Officers responded to a residence where a man was causing a disturbance. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health and placed the man into protective custody. He was then conveyed to the hospital where he was left in the care of medical staff.

EAST: Death Investigation – 1:05 am. Officers responded to an assisted living facility where a woman discovered her husband deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
WEST: Check Person – 1:14 am. Officers responded to a residence where a suicidal female subject had jumped from a balcony. The woman was transported to the hospital.
