The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 08/04/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/07/2023, MPD received 1,169 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (222), East (240), Midtown (171), North (202), South (148), West (159), and Other (27). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 7:42 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (72-year-old male). Nothing suspicious identified.
WEST: Check Person – 1:02 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a suicidal subject. The subject was transported voluntarily to a hospital and voluntarily admitted. Officers disengaged.
CENTRAL: Check Person – 2:10 p.m. Officers responded to the Monona Terrace for a suicidal subject. The subject was placed into protective custody under an emergency detention. Journey Mental Health was consulted. The subject was transported to a hospital. Final outcome pending.
WEST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 3:22 p.m. Officers investigated the report of a possible sexual assault of a child. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 4:07 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a 55-year-old female subject causing a disturbance. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and trespass.
EAST: Missing Adult – 7:13 p.m. A 92-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. A Silver Alert was issued. The subject was located unharmed and was reunited with his family.
MIDTOWN: Runaway/Missing Juvenile – 7:35 p.m. A 17-year-old male was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

NORTH: Disturbance – 12:26 a.m. Officers responded to a bar where the manager reported that a car pulling out of a stall struck a patron approaching the bar. The patron struck the vehicle and an argument ensued between the occupants of the car and the man on foot. None of the involved individuals remained on scene for police contact. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Disturbance – 4:42 a.m. Officers responded to an apartment building for a report of a disturbance. When officers entered the common area of the building, a male subject pointed a gun at the officers, who quickly retreated and set up a perimeter around the building. Additional resources responded and SWAT team members evacuated and cleared the building. Several subjects were arrested on warrants. Investigation continuing.
SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 4:43 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject and a 32-year-old female subject. Probable cause developed to arrest both subjects once they are located.
WEST: Death Investigation – 6:11 a.m. Officers responded to a vehicle where a 73-year-old male subject was discovered deceased with a suicide note in the windshield. Nothing suspicious identified.
MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 9:09 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (96-year-old female subject). Nothing suspicious identified.
MIDTOWN: Suspicious Person – 9:14 am. A girl reported that while she was walking to the store an unidentified subject approached her and told her he would give her money if she went with him somewhere. Investigation continuing.
WEST: Drug Incident – 2:41 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a 38-year-old female subject experiencing a drug overdose. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and cited for possession of schedule II narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
NORTH: Found Person – 3:13 p.m. A child was located alone outside. Parent located. Child returned home. Officers disengaged.
SOUTH: Battery – 5:01 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a battery involving a 32-year-old female subject. Charges forthcoming.
MIDTOWN: Battery – 9:45 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.
EAST: Check Area – 10:05 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject with a gun involved in a disturbance. A 16-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and possession of drug paraphernalia.
EAST: Check Area – 10:27 p.m. Officers responded to a report of several subjects with masks and guns. Officers arrived in the area and observed two vehicles leaving at a high rate of speed. Traffic stops attempted and the vehicles did not stop. One of the vehicles was located with a subject running on foot. Areas checked but no subjects located. Maple Bluff PD got into a pursuit with the second vehicle which ended up crashing. The occupants fled on foot. MPD joined the search for the subjects. Two loaded guns were located. An 18-year-old male subject was located and arrested for obstructing and a probation hold. No other subjects located at this time. Investigation continuing.

Priority calls only from 4:16 p.m. to 6:27 p.m. due to calls for service.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 12:41 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a suicidal subject. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health consulted and supported an emergency detention. Transport to Winnebago completed.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:52 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old female subject and a 33-year-old male subject. The female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery. The male subject was arrested for resisting.
NORTH: Stolen Auto – 5:06 a.m. A vehicle was reported as stolen. Officers observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. MPD did not pursue the vehicle but other agencies did. The vehicle was stopped. A 12-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent, eluding and reckless driving.
EAST: Mental Health Conveyance – 7:05 a.m. A subject, who had recently been released from Winnebago, took her sister's two children without permission and with plans to take them to another town. The children were found safe and returned home. The subject was transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought. Charges forthcoming for the subject as well (abduction of another's child – 2 counts). Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Burglary – 10:00 a.m. A 41-year-old male subject was arrested for burglary and conveyed to jail.
NORTH: Missing Adult – 11:18 a.m. An 80-year-old female subject was reported as missing. Areas checked. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was located safe.
SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 2:11 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim, disorderly conduct (3 counts) and bail jumping (6 counts). Dane County Sheriff's office also charged the subject with numerous crimes.
MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 3:32 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (34-year-old female). The subject was determined to be deceased when officers arrived with drugs/paraphernalia in plain view. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:00 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic strangulation, disorderly conduct, resisting and felony bail jumping.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 9:48 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

SOUTH: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 12:16 a.m. A 17-year-old male subject was reported as missing/runaway and possibly suicidal. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The juvenile was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
NORTH: Non-Residential Burglary – 3:15 a.m. Officers responded to an alarm at a convenience store. A 40-year-old male subject was located inside and arrested for burglary, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation.
