The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 08/24/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/25/2023, MPD received 454 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (82),East (94), Midtown (71), North (81), South (56), West (59), and Other (11). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

EAST: Crash – 10:21 a.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. A light pole and tree were knocked down. A 38-year-old male driver fled on foot but was apprehended. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), hit-and-run and a probation violation.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:53 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for strangulation, disorderly conduct (2 counts), domestic battery (2 counts) and intimidation of a victim.
EAST: Disturbance – 3:07 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 20-year-old female subject. The subject fought with officers. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and given an order-in for resisting. Officers disengaged.
EAST: Disturbance – 3:34 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot involving a 25-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.
CENTRAL: Crash – 5:05 p.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. An 18-year-old male driver/subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and cited for lane deviation. The other driver was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 5:34 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
SOUTH: Check Person – 6:48 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Final outcome pending. * Emergency detention sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 6:54 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who left a local hospital. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Phone ping attempted. The subject was listed as missing/endangered in the appropriate databases.
EAST: Strong Armed Robbery – 8:56 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a victim reporting she had been robbed and physically assaulted. The victim had visible injuries. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Crash – 9:57 p.m. Officers responded to a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash. Witnesses reported observing the 52-year-old male driver of the motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed before striking the vehicle. The driver was conveyed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was cited for a red light signal violation and unreasonable and imprudent speed.
